Transnational

A transnational design is not a type of configuration - it is often associated with a matrix structure, but in principle it is applicable to any type of structure. A transnational design is more a question of culture and attitude, and is characterized by the following:

• Assets and capabilities are dispersed, interdependent, and specialized
• Overseas operations are differentiated (national) units that are all integrated into world-wide operations
• Knowledge is developed jointly and shared world-wide
